Inside HRSA: The May issue of Inside HRSA highlights an outreach effort by HRSA's Radiation Exposure Screening and Education Program to raise awareness about the need for cancer screening among people who lived near nuclear weapons testing facilities in the mid-20th century. The issue also covers the latest developments of the Patient Safety and Clinical Pharmacy Services Collaborative and reports on awards bestowed on a HRSA-developed health literacy training course and on Dr. Peter van Dyck, HRSA's associate administrator for maternal and child health. As with every issue, Inside HRSA gives you a snapshot of current news and events and staff on the move.

Program In Focus: The Lower Extremity Amputation Prevention (LEAP) Program is a comprehensive prevention program developed at HRSA's Bureau of Primary Health Care. The mission of the LEAP program is to reduce the incidence of lower extremity amputations by educating primary care providers and patients about the use of the LEAP monofilament to screen for loss of protective sensation in the feet, a common complication of diabetes.

You can learn more about the LEAP Program by going to http://www.hrsa.gov/leap/. You can also view and order LEAP materials and other Bureau of Primary Health Care related publications by going to http://ask.hrsa.gov/Primary.cfm and clicking on the publication titles.
